The First Ourense Rural Summit will bring together 130 experts from universities, companies and rural development associations, and rural etrepreneurs to co-design momentum projects to drive progress on the Goals of Sustainable Development from the rural sector.
The Ourense Rural Summit (OURS), promoted by the Deputación de Ourense and the Universidade de Vigo, will be held on October 29, 30 and 31 at the Parador de Santo Estevo and the Mosteiro de Oseira. It is a forum to think about the possibilities offered by rural areas to comply with the goals of the Agenda 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals.
More than 130 university experts and rural agents from all around the world will attend the Ourense Rural Summit. The participants will work on analyzing the Sustainable Development Goals and its application in rural areas in order to elaborate proposals for the creation of a RURAL INNOVATION ECOSYSTEM. OURS is the first project of RIO, the International Observatory of Rural Research of Ourense, promoted by the Deputación de Ourense and the Universidade de Vigo.
This event will blend the best of rural and academic world with the intention to become a meeting place to generate local and innovative experiences that will form a rural innovation ecosystem. It aims at rethinking together applications and interventions in rural areas through the co-design of initiatives to be implemented in rural environments. The program includes different participatory working sessions with the intention of establishing synergies between the participants and generating new socioenvironmental innovation initiatives in rural areas.
Attendees coming from Galicia, Andalucía, Castilla y León, Madrid, Canada, Denmark, United KIngdom, Italy, Hungary, Poland, Belgium, Brazil, Portugal, among other countries, will live together at the Parador de Santo Estevo de Ribas de Sil from October 29 to 31, 2019 delving into rurality and the Agenda 2030.
The conclusions of the work will be presented during the closing session at the Mosteiro de Oseira. These conclusions will be contained in the strategy of RIO, the International Observatory of Rural Research. A document containing the challenges faced by RIO, the International Observatory of Rural Research, will be signed during the closing.
